A while back, I responded to a Facebook post with the following comment: ” We are not at war with Venezuela or any of the countries that own these ships or with any of the countries the oil is bound for. It’s called piracy”.
While I received many likes, all of the worded replies, and there were many, were insults. Here is a sampling of these (bold).

Educated and still a stooge!! OK. This guy must have looked up my Facebook profile. I often do that to check if the person is real or not. Good for this guy. Not sure what he meant by “stooge”. By the way, my favorite was Larry, even though I look more like Curly.
Wrong as usual. This guy may have taken the next step and actually read some of my older posts on a variety of subjects, like the importance of vaccination, how humans and dinosaurs did not coexist and the medicinal uses of a good cigar taken with a single malt scotch. While some of my posts are up for debate, I will stand by the cigar and scotch one as a given.
A number of replies indicated a bit of actual logic.
Follow the rules or lose your oil. Period. What rules? Who’s rules? I am not an expert on international oil shipping, false flags, sanctions, or whatever, but the shit going on with these seizures needs a bit more clarification for me. Right now, our Navy is “chasing” a tanker in the Atlantic. Wow! What class of ships in our Navy are so slow that they can’t keep up with a tanker? Did they reactivate Old Iron Sides? Are all of our helicopters broken or being used in ICE raids? Maybe we should use “Capt. Phillips” as a training video.

Oil that’s destined for China or Russia. Hmm….can’t see a problem with that! It’s not going to Russia; they have more oil right now than they can sell. Personally, I think committing an act of war on China would be a very bad idea. We would end up naked and have to go back to land lines from dial phones attached to our kitchen walls.
That’s one way to refill our reserve supply. We are now the biggest oil exporter in the whole wide world of sports. Maybe we should take a bit of that and fill up our own reserve and not risk our boys taking over foreign ships at sea.
The enemy is the enemy there’s no other means to explain it. Maduro is a fucking SOB, but he is an enemy only to his own people. He is no threat to us or any of our allies, if we have any left. We just got out of 20 years of wars where this logic was applied. Have we learned nothing?
Venezuela shot at our Coast Guard try to sync the Coast Guard ship and the US Navy was like 165 miles away when they got 90 miles out man shot man them down and sunk those three ships to Venezuela did this. ?? This guy needs a proof reader. I could find no reference to this incident when I Googled it. When I replied to him, he responded with I site I could not call up. When I pointed this out to him, he said he couldn’t “help” me anymore. At least he did not call me a bootlicker, or dipshit baby communist. I responded to him, thanking him for being a very polite stupid person and giving him my permission to reproduce. We are going need lots of maids, landscapers and day workers after we deport all the brown people.
So what did you call it when venezuela nationalized their oil industry and seized hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of American assets, and have refused to pay restitution ? You freaking clueless dipshit . True they did nationalize their oil wells, taking assets away from big international oil companies, That was in 1976! When I pointed this out to her, she replied: So no other president has bothered to protect American assets then? When I was in the third grade, Billy Sulivan stole my lunch money. If Trump, decades later locked Billy up, I guess that could be a reason for me to worship an orange pedo.
Sanctions. At last, a non-insulting and possible legitimate counter point to my piracy comment. A quick Google of “Venezuelan oil sanctions” gave me a headache. They were put in place during the first Trump debacle, the taken off, then put back on again this December. However, Chevron is exempt. ???? How can we have sanctions on their oil when we buy it or help produce it? Or are we seizing their shipments to other countries so that Chevron can make bigger bucks? Unless I am going completely bonkers, oil sanctions in the past were put on countries that we had massive disagreements with, e.g. Iraq under Sadam after he invaded Kuwait and Russia after in invasions of Ukraine. None of these sanctions have ever been very effective and we didn’t seem to have the need to grab tankers owned and operated by non-belligerents to enforce them.
Unlike this particular individual, giving one-word answers to complex questions is a technique I have yet to master. I tried “Albuquerque”, but all I got were stares.
And finally, there was one off-topic comment of note.
No it’s not,because your boy Schumer in 1989 signed a bill that allows us to blow them boats up or seize boats do your research. Kind of ironic that Schumer signed the bill. This was a bit obscure. Spent a bit of time on trying to figure it. The best I could tell was this was a bill having something to do with drug shipment but did not authorize blowing up alleged drug boats on the high seas. As I am on this topic, why are we blowing these boats up without proof? Our coast guard has a lot of experience in interdicting suspected drug boats. About a quarter of them are not carrying any. Based on that logic, we are murdering at least some innocent fishermen. A recent article in the New York Times, describes what was found on one of these destroyed boats which wash ashore. No drugs except for traces of weed. Even if every one of the boats we have blown up was carrying drugs, its cocaine that is probably not bound for the USA. The people running these boats are likely mules, seduced by money or coerced by cartels. Would you support the State Police stopping a suspected drug truck on I-5, then shooting the truck driver without checking? I am not a fan of these drug cartels. I lost a grand daughter to a fentanyl over dose. But that drug is coming across the Mexican border, not coming out of the Caribbean on speed boats.
While I am on the subject of these drug boats, why would they be carrying “narco-terrorists”. Are they going to drop off their drugs and then unload gangs of gun toting commies who attack our malls and high schools, killing and taking hostages while demanding the release of the seven members of the Asian Dawn? It doesn’t make a lot of sense, especially when we are doing such a good job of in the mass shooting department without their help. Yep, its bull shit, designed to justify extra judicial killings by creatingscary bogie men. Remember the weapons of mass destruction, or Sadam’s soldiers looting hospitals in Kuwait for incubators while dumping the preemies on the floor to die. It was about oil then, and it is now.
Face it forks, this is who we are, and this is especially true when it comes to Latin America. Big oil is only the latest exhibit in our history of supporting US business interests over the rights and welfare of the people of these nations. In Chili, we facilitated the assassination of a democratically elected president to protect AT&T assets. We replaced him with a monster who after 17 years of murdering his own people ended up dying of old age. We stole Panama from Columbia to make a canal, intervened in Guatemala to protect the interests of United Fruit. We fucked them over for bananas! I could go on about Hati, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, Bolivia, etc. What we have done and are currently doing in Venezuela is no different.
I digressed again; didn’t mean to, I am prone to this affliction. SQUIRREL! Maybe I should get back to the subject of this rant.
My first reaction to this hatefulness in the replies to my post was what happened to being civil. I used to be able to have debates with conservatives about many topics without being insulted. I hear the talking heads blame this on the anonymity of social media. I disagree. Social media has allowed people to be who they are. They were always this way when my back was turned, with smirks and secret handshakes with their fellow like thinkers. I’m reminded of the husband who only beats his wife when he gets drunk. It’s not the alcohol that caused him to be a wife beater. The alcohol just gives him an excuse to be his true self. Thus, it is with social media.
As to the ignorance displayed in these replies, I have learned a lesson. Ignorant people when presented with facts can learn. The most stunning example of late is Marjory Taylor Green. She is still mostly stupid but woke up to president pedo. Stupid people refuse to learn even if they see facts with their own eyes. They laugh and insult you. Maduro is a POS who is illegitimately in power. Does that make it acceptable for us to commit piracy and execute suspected drug smugglers without proof? To the best of my knowledge this is not about drugs. It’s about oil, and our government is telling us lies like they did in the run up to Vietnam and the war in Iraq. That was and this is far from American first. We should treat each other better than this. At 78 years of age, I am not sure I can but I can hope…
